Our Story
The Afghan Community of Guelph (ACO) is a vibrant and inclusive organization dedicated to supporting the Afghan diaspora in Guelph and surrounding areas. With a mission rooted in preserving Afghan culture and traditions, ACO serves as a hub for individuals and families to connect, learn, and thrive together. At the heart of ACO’s mission is a commitment to cultural preservation. The organization hosts regular events, workshops, and celebrations to honor Afghan customs, music, art, and heritage. These events not only bring the community closer but also provide an opportunity to share the rich culture of Afghanistan with the wider Guelph community. ACO places a strong emphasis on the education and development of the younger generation. Through structured programs in religious education and cultural learning, the organization ensures that Afghan children and youth stay connected to their roots while growing in a multicultural environment. Led by President Ibrahim Awolia Qul and a dedicated board of directors, ACO is guided by principles of inclusivity, integrity, and service. The team works tirelessly to address the evolving needs of the community and to create opportunities for members to engage, support one another, and build meaningful relationships.
